Vaccines and VacciCheck!

VacciCheck is a blood test available for both dogs and cats and, that can be performed at our surgery. This test measures antibody levels to core vaccine diseases, such as Distemper, Hepatitis, and Parvovirus (DHP) in dogs and Herpes, Calici virus and Panleukopenia virus in cats.

How it works: A small blood sample is taken from your pet. The sample is then processed using the VacciCheck kit, and the results are typically available within a short timeframe approximately 30 minutes for in-house testing.

ree

We generally advise that you run the VacciCheck test until at least THREE years after your last DHP injection unless there are other specific concerns (such as being on chemotherapy or immunosuppressive treatment).

If the test shows that revaccination is not required against the Core diseases, then we suggest retesting again in 12 months’ time.

This test is valuable for making informed decisions about vaccination protocols, avoiding over-vaccination, and potentially preventing adverse reactions!

A VacciCheck test can also be useful for newly adopted pets, animals with suspected adverse reactions to vaccines, pets in shelters/ or as part of an annual health check program.

Consult your veterinarian! Discuss with your veterinarian if the VacciCheck is the right approach for your pet's specific needs.

Unfortunately, there is not test available to check for Leptospirosis Antibodies, so please discuss with your veterinarian about risks!
